Raised by vampyre relatives, Jane grows to resent the lifestyle's effect on her upbringing. No sunlight, nighttime hours, and a diet of bloody red meat is no way for a mortal girl to live. Jane departs to study the slayer tradition with her cousins, but finds herself yearning to reunite with Mr. Rochester. She returns to find that Mr. Rochester has been bitten by the werewolf, and only she can release him from his curse.

Like the other books in this genre-- kept true to the story line with quirkiness abounding. I really enjoyed it.

What wonderful fun -- I am the world's biggest fan of Jane Eyre, having read it at least a dozen times, and Jane Slayer is a lovely lark -- whole bits of Jane Eyre are lifted into the new story line with twisted explanations that are great fun and still stay honest to the tone and language of the original. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Jane Eyre has always been one of my all time favorite books, but Jane Slayer just upped that a notch! It is a wonderful reworking of a classic. It makes use of a very clever, witty way of working in Zombies, Vampires and Werewolves in a way that makes a very strangle, but absolute sense to the story. It takes Jane, a quiet, reserved, but very strong and determined woman and makes her so much more. Absolutely worth the read! You will laugh, you will cry and you absolutely won't be able to put it down!!!
When growing up my favorite book as a teen was Jane Eyre. I read it several times and always pictured myself as Jane and a handsome boy from my school as Mr Rochester.. sighhh! So when I saw that Jane Eyre had been updated like some of the other classics.. you know I had to get it.. and it certainly lived up my hopes.. Still the romance, still the locked up wife in the attic.. but this time around she is a werewolf (the wife not Jane, LOL) If you loved the book Jane Eyre and want to read something with a little more "bite" get this book!
I am well aware of the original story and I have long been a fan. This was such a surprise and great fun to read. It was an excellent job of writing mixing the original with the new. I will definitely recommend this to my friends who like this type of story.
Overall, I liked it. I really liked their version of Lowood school. The book did have some slow parts, but then again so did the original. The parts I disliked in the original classic are the same parts I dislike in this book.
